Hello to you all. How are you? first of all happy Dipawali and all the
subsequent festivals.
Today I would like to narrate my first experience in the most coveted Shatabdi Express. I was to travel from New Delhi to Bhopal on 08th Nov, 2012. The train was scheduled at 6.00 am. I was fortunate enough to reach at 05.57 am. But in haste I boarded the E-2(Executive Class) coach while my ticket was for CE-2. This happened because I was not aware that both E-2 and CE-2 exist. The seat description on my ticket showed like this:
Name sex age seat coach position
ALOK KUMAR M 25 CE-2,1 15
From the above I inferred that my seat number was 15, thus I straight forward went to my seat where an old couple was seating. They offered me to sit on another seat so that they could sit together. I was convinced and thus settled my ass on seat number-2.
Now when the TTE arrived, he checked my ticket and declared that I landed in a wrong coach. He straight away told me to move to coach-CE-2. I was filled with embarrassment as the whole coach was filled with confined and sophisticated people. Now I was bound to move. The tragedy started from here onwards. The coach CE-2 was on the other side of the train. Thus I needed to cross around 12 coaches. I somehow started my journey. There were large scale hindrances in the middle as people staring at me, attendants distributing breakfast needed to give me side, my huge luggage used to get stuck in between two coaches. Somehow I reached my right coach.
A new tragedy was waiting here. I was sure that my seat number was 15, thus I went to my seat where a beautiful girl was sitting just beside the row of 15, 16, 17. As there were three seats in a row and 3rd one beside the window was vacant. The girl was sitting on seat 17, a man of 50's sitting on 16 and seat 15 was vacant. The man seemed hugely sophisticated; he was carrying a lapy and was making slides (wires of the lapy hanging). Thus I offered them to shift towards the window seat rather than me going to the window seat.
Somehow I adjusted myself and comfortably sat beside the gal.
I could not stop myself from talking to that gal (she was exuding beauty). I gathered some courage and asked where she was going. She told bhopal and I was filled with utter happiness. But my happiness was short lived. It turned sour the moment she said she is going there for the first time (she originally belonged to delhi). She was to participate in a debate at Law university, Bhopal. My happiness further worsened when she told she is a first year student of BBA+LLB cource (at NIRMA, Ahmedabad). (She had just passed class-12. I dont know how I imagined as if she was above 25. She looked hugely mature.)
Then TTE came and asked for ticket. I was amazed to know that my seat number was CE-2,1. That means my seat was 1 and not 15. I wrongly interpreted the coach position as the seat number (watch above). I was felling hugely embarrassed. I had started calculating how that man and the gal would be making conclusions about me. The gal must have thought that I sat there to talk with her. With deep shyness and utter embarrassment I somehow reached my seat number 1. I was not able to even show my face to the public particularly the man and that gal.
At 2.00pm, I reached Bhopal and secretly left the place.
I hope you people must have understood the conditions that prevailed at that time.
